Call for Submissions
CTSJ welcomes original research articles, essays, and reviews from students of all disciplines. Work selected for publication will display compelling and in-depth analysis, academic excellence, and significant relevance to the mission of the journal. Accepted work will be published in CTSJ’s semi-annual online volumes.
Published by the Critical Theory and Social Justice Department at Occidental College, the journal exposes students to the experiences of writing, editing, and publishing scholarly work.
CTSJ Volume 7, Issue 1
CTSJ is accepting academic manuscripts for its Fall 2017 issue. For this issue, CTSJ is seeking papers of any discipline or topical focus; to be considered, papers must be of high quality, at least 12 pages in length (15 pages and more is preferred), and must integrate and apply critical theory to issues of social justice. Please see the Policies page for submission details. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis.
Artwork CTSJ strives to publish artists whose work pushes the boundaries of its medium to offer critical insights into issues of social justice. Artists may submit single pieces or a series; a series may not be longer than 7 pages, however exceptions may be considered depending upon circumstances to be decided on a case-by-case basis. The medium of art is not limited, but all works must be able to be reproduced in print. The piece(s) should be electronically submitted; we cannot accept physical copies of any artwork. An artist statement that will be published with the piece must accompany each submission. This should be a single-spaced article, at least two pages long. Typically, statements provide context for and analysis of the work in a form that is consistent with our long-form articles. Please refer to the above submission deadline.
