A Late Pliocene Macrofossil Fauna of Newport Beach, Orange County, California
A new exposure of fossliferous sandstones of Upper Pliocene age was uncovered during construction work in the spring of 1968. A total 101 species of mollusks and fish remains were recovered. The fauna indicates a moderately deep-water deposit. The presence of a few shallow-water forms suggests a mixing a faunas has occurred.
