Abstract
I plan to reorganize the extinct genus of Sthenictis , re-evaluating as many known specimens are possible in order to rectify any problems within the genus. In addition I will describe a new species of Sthenictis from Inner Mongolia. A second facet of my project will deal with the magnetic orientation of the earth's poles during the time that the Tung Gur rocks were formed. I will be running tests on samples collected from a section of the Tung Gur in able to determine the age of the rocks through the magnetic remanence in the rock.
