Childcare Responsibilities and their Relationship to Gender Equality in Cape Town, South Africa.
I will be studying the connections of gender equality and childcare responsibilities in the lives of black women in Cape Town, South Africa. In essence, I will attempt to determine if the state and/or men are willing to participate in childcare, so black women can assume positions of power not open to them prior to the end of apartheid. I will be using archiving techniques to unearth legislation and media coverage that is pertinent to childcare and gender equality issues and conducting intense interviews of these women within a feminist technique.
