Investigating the Properties of Ag and In Through Use of Hall Effect
In order to carry out my physics comprehensive project, I propose to study the properties of Ag and In through the use of the Hall Effect. The main property I will investigate is charge carrier density. In order to identify the charge carrier of these metals, I will need to obtain samples of the metals. These samples will be placed in a magnetic field of known magnitude. A known current will then be passed through the sample, which is placed at right angles to the direction of the magnetic field, thus causing the Hall effect. From the known values of the magnetic field and current, along with the Hall Voltage the charge carrier density of the sample can then be determined.
