Abstract
In order to learn more about the magnetic properties of U238, we experimented with a high-purity single-crystal of Uranium. We used an instrument called a cantilever magnetometer, which is sensitive to the parallel and perpendicular components of the sample's magnetic moments. We found features in the data at temperatures that correspond to phase transitions into charge-density wave states. These results are consistent with spin-density waves, which are magnetic and frequently associated with charge-density waves. Further experimentation will be needed to clarify these results.
