Geothermal Research in Iceland: Implications and Applications to the United States
I will be traveling to Reykjavik, Iceland for 5 weeks to learn about their new geothermal technology so that I may apply it to the southwestern United States. I will spend two weeks with the United Nations Geothermal training program, one week in the field at the high temperature drill site, and the remaining time studying drill sites from map perspective to learn why specific sites were chosen. Throughout the project, I will be applying the new information to improve the United States current geothermal program, and speculate on how we can apply the new technology being developed in Iceland here in the future.
