Abstract

The goal of this research was to elaborate on the importance of the integration process in Europe for the development of Bulgaria. The European integration process is not new to Bulgaria, as it has attempted it several times in its history. Its contemporary effort has the full potential to be a successful one. For Bulgaria to accomplish this goal, two aspects have to be taken into consideration - the preparation for the process in the early post-communist period, and the current preparations that are undergoing as Bulgaria nears its accession date.Respectively, the work that Bulgaria accomplished so far for its acceptance to the European Union (EU) was summarized, and Bulgaria's preparation for its acceptance in 2007 was analyzed in order to make a comprehensive evaluation of the role of the Euro-integration for the stable and quick development of Bulgaria.
