Abstract
Two species of Protodorvillea described from California and Wash-

ington have been reexamined and determined to belong to the genus Pettiboneia.

Structures originally described as branchiae have been determined to bear internal

aciculae and are actually dorsal cirri. The numerous rows of accessory denticles

originally noted as specific characters are generic level characters in Pettiboneia.

The two species, P. pugettensis and P. dibranchiata, are redescribed and compared

with related species of Pettiboneia.
