The current global energy crises and the intermestic issue of pollution have intertwined the political and environmental fates of the United States and China. This research project will introduce international measures such as the Kyoto protocol, and the upcoming Copenhagen Conference, both aim towards an overall reduction of fossil fuel use. Next, the current implementation of sustainable energy sources within China and the United States? overarching energy agendas will be overviewed. The two leading nations in energy consumption may seek to collaborate on future sustainable energy projects. However, their often tumultuous political relationship, and differing ideological views may hinder both nation?s ability to cooperate on the pressing global environmental pandemic. The final section of this research project will analyze collaborations by both nations in the fields of sustainable energy, and projects now underway since Obama?s inception into office.
