Abstract
This study attempted to find the best method to elicit jealousy in a laboratory setting. We tested the effects on subjective perception of emotion, skin conductance and heart rate in participants recalling a jealous situation and in viewing a video of two other parties in a jealous situation. We compared the two jealousy conditions (writing and video) with a writing and video condition designed to elicit angry response, and a writing and video condition designed to elicit no emotional response in the participant in order to determine if jealousy could be physiologically distinguished from anger.
