Employment interview situations are tense and can possibly lead to stress on the job applicant. This is common because many organizations rely on interviews, a valid predictor of job performance, to determine who they hire. Therefore, when one approaches an interview, one will want to put their best foot forward and do all that is possible to portray oneself as a positive, competent applicant. For this reason, I decided to use this summer to create the materials needed for a study that investigates factors that contribute to how an applicant is perceived in an interview setting. Once I generated all the materials for the study, I completed the piloting phase by running 13 participants in mid-July. After I finished the pilot study, I evaluated my methods and plan to make adjustments to improve the validity of the study. I plan to run the full study with many more participants this upcoming Fall semester.
