Abstract
I will study the rise of gay identity since the collapse of communism in Poland. My overall goal is to form a broad analysis on individual gay identity development, gay group identity development, and inter-group relations in developing Poland. I will intensively interview approximately twenty gay men in Warsaw, Krakow, and many other cities throughout Poland. I will also conduct archival research at Lambda Warsaw, the largest gay organization in Poland; at the Biblioteka Jagiellonska of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow; and at the Warsaw University Library in Warsaw.
