dc.description.abstract | I began this project, my senior comprehensive art show, with the intention of creating a book of portraits that illustrates and celebrates individuals who live on the street, Munson Avenue. I had hoped to make a work of art that was tangible and accessible, both physically and intellectually, to a wide variety of people, both educated and uneducated in art. My final product had a very different aesthetic from the three-foot by four-foot floor book I set out to do, and I also decided not to use my neighbors as subjects, but rather my friends, family, and a few neighbors, but my aim to create art that could speak to a wider variety of people than just those educated in art held true. | |
