    Abstract
Samples of the shrimp by-catch were obtained from boats operating off the northwest Pacific coast of Mexico. The crustacean component of the by-catch was separated and examined. Twenty-four species of crustacean were found in the by-catch and several, including 5 species of large portunid crabs, have considerable commercial value but are presently unexploited in this region of Mexico.
