    Abstract
I propose to study how an increasingly global culture affects Venezuelan art. Because the center of the art world is the United States and Western Europe, Venezuelan art is often dismissed as simplistic folk art. I assert that the complex culture of Venezuela, influenced by its traditions and the traditions of other cultures, is and has been producing artworks that span farther beyond anything simplistic. By communicating with a large span of Venezuelans and through analyzing a variety of types of Venezuelan art, I hope to discover how globalization affects Venezuelan art.
