    Abstract
There appears to be considerable confusion among west coast shell collectors regarding the names of local species of the genus Glycimeris. During a current study of Pleistocene mollusks, among which was a considerable number of examples of this genus, the writer found himself unsatisfied as to the applicability of some of the names in general use. It was decided, therefore, to devote some time to a study of the group, in order to ascertain, so far as possible, the number of forms known to occur in our fauna and the names to be applied to them. The following is a resume of the results of this study.
