A Cluster Analysis of Pacific Ocean Temperatures and North American Upper Air Temperatures
Twenty-two years of summer North Pacific Ocean temperatures were cluster analyzed with fall North American 700 mb air temperatures. Several regional groups were identified on the linkage tree. Most of these groups were aligned in east-west latitudinal bands. One cluster linked both water and air temperatures, suggesting possible teleconnections between ocean and atmosphere.
